SEGi College Sarawak’s Diploma in Hotel Management programme students taking the Restaurant Management subject took a study tour of Hilton Hotel Kuching on Thursday, 29 September 2022. The purpose of this visit was to give the students a feel of how a hotel restaurant operates and is managed.
Upon the students’ arrival at the hotel lobby, they were greeted by Awangku Karlo, the Learning and Development Coordinator of Hilton Hotel Kuching, who brought them to the training room for a briefing on the three restaurants in the hotel. He then took them to visit each one.
At the Toh Yuen Restaurant, the students learned about the styles of service and the different ways of folding the napkin for display. They then moved on to The Koffee, a casual restaurant serving coffee, beer and various food. Here they were taught how to make coffee art and the many types of coffee, such as cappuccino and espresso. Lastly, they learned about the setups and cuisines served at Makan Kitchen.
It was a fun and educational visit that boosted the students’ classroom experience.
