The Holy Month of Ramadan is a significant time for Muslims. It is a time for spiritual reflection, prayer and self-improvement. Ramadan is also a time for charitable acts and compassion towards others. One such act of kindness is providing free meals to those in need.
In an effort to promote sustainable development goals and simultaneously address the issue of hunger, SEGi College Sarawak took a positive step forward by providing free bubur lambuk on 31 March 2023, during the holy month of Ramadan this year. The preparation started at 9 a.m. with the help of culinary arts students and sales team led by Chef Immarul, our very own culinary lecturer. The bubur lambuk distribution began at 2.30 p.m. at the entrance of Plaza Merdeka.
This initiative by SEGi College is an effort to promote social welfare and community development. The involvement of our culinary arts students in the preparation and cooking of the bubur Lambuk had the added advantage of providing them with valuable hands-on experience and also helping them to develop a sense of social responsibility and realise the importance of giving back to the community.
The choice of Plaza Merdeka was also a good strategy to ensure that the food reaches the target audience effectively. Many people who are in need of food may not have the means to travel to distant locations, and by distributing the food in a central location, SEGi College Sarawak did our best to ensure that it reached those who need it the most.
It is hoped that this initiative will inspire more organisations to take similar actions to help the needy while promoting sustainable development goals. We would like to express gratitude to Plaza Merdeka for the wonderful opportunity and support in allowing the college to distribute the bubur lambuk in their premises. We appreciate Plaza Merdeka’s commitment to the community and the willingness to partner with SEGi College Sarawak to make a difference and help to make a positive impact in the lives of so many people.
