In conjunction with World Tourism Day on 27 September 2022, SEG International Group Sdn Bhd (“SEGi”) and The Prestige Hotel have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) witnessed by officials from both organisations. This signing ceremony was held with the inauguration of our brand-new mock hotel room at SEGi College Penang.
Among the areas that SEGi and The Prestige Hotel have agreed on in this MoU is the sharing of professional expertise in the hotel and culinary fields, as well as collaboration in academic programmes.
For example, the Prestige Hotel will give consultation in the syllabus for the hotel management and culinary arts programmes. Aside from that, the Prestige Hotel also will participate as an industrial-training placement organisation.
During the event, SEGi College Penang launched a brand-new mock hotel room called the ‘Eden Suite’ as a symbol of the continuous effort and collaboration between SEGi College Penang and the Prestige Hotel.
This mock hotel room will be a practical training for our hotel-management programme students. This initiative will prepare them with work-based learning in the hospitality field. In addition, this initiative will also improve the learning experience for the students. This collaboration is expected to support the development of field experts on both sides to meet the current needs of the industry as well as other innovative approaches.
The Eden Suite was launched by Cheah Gaik Chiam, Principal of SEGi College Penang, Melvin Ooi, General Manager of the Prestige Hotel, and YBhg Datuk Khoo, Executive Chairman of StudyPenang.
