SEGi’s sound of music

Music Students’ Performance on 28 April at Pavilion KL:

On Thursday, 28th May, a group of 12 music students performed at Dadi Cinema, inside Pavilion Mall, Kuala Lumpur. The event was organised and hosted by Mr Edward of SEGi College Subang Jaya. This SGC networking session was attended by representatives from 50 companies, including SONY, Warner Bros. Malaysia, among other notable names, and aimed to expand industrial engagement for SEGi’s students.

Led by Mr Yii Kah Hoe, SCSJ’s Senior Music Lecturer and a recently-awarded Fulbright Scholar in Residence to Washington State University, this group of 12 music students provided a 20-minute pre-event background music and performed the theme music for the launching ceremony of Jurassic Park 2. The music was arranged by a recent BA in Music Studies graduate, Daniel Martires, under the supervision of Mr Yii Kah Hoe, an established international composer.

The students had only a week to arrange and rehearse for this event. Despite the short notification and preparation time, the students were able to deliver, performing so superbly at the event that Sony and Warner Bros said they would hire them, and this group of students have been invited again to perform for the launching of another movie – Top Gun!
