SEGi highlights the importance of exercising their voting rights

SEGi University and Colleges, under the initiative of the School of MPU, has organised a campaign called “My Aspirations for Malaysia: Every Vote Counts” to encourage our Malaysian students who have reached the age of 18 years and registered as voters to cast their votes for the 15th general election.

This campaign aims to raise awareness among the students on the importance of exercising their voting rights during the election and developing their feelings of affection and love for the country. It also highlights the significance of unity and integration in the country.

This campaign is also in line with the UNESCO Sustainability Development Goals as it promotes peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provides access to justice for all and builds effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels.

In Malaysia, we have different ethnic groups living together in peace and harmony regardless of differences in culture, religion, and language. As a democratic country, we have the 15th general election to allow our citizens, including our youths with the implementation of Undi18, to choose future leaders. As newly appointed leaders, they must ensure the continuity of political stability and good governance in the country. This campaign allows our students to voice their aspirations for our country and their hopes for future leaders.

With Undi18, we hope that our teenage students who are eligible to vote in elections will eventually be wise and responsible citizens in choosing future leaders who can ensure the political stability and economic growth of the country during this challenging time.

This also can strengthen students’ sense of citizenship and ensure they understand fundamental principles such as parliamentary democracy, elections, and separation of powers.
