SEGi College Subang Jaya’s senior music lecturer Yii Kah Hoe took part in three concerts in America.
Maestro Yii has performed his new piece ‘A Message from the Mangrove Forest’ for soprano, piano and soundscape during the world premiere by Anne and Mari Kawamura at St. Paul’s Chapel, Columbia University on 25 October.
Yii then performed another piece by him titled ‘Opening of the Stage for Orchestra’ at the US premiere by Washington Idaho Symphony on 5 November 2022, under the baton of maestro Dahn Pham.
On 13 November, Yii played the ‘Opening of the Stage for Orchestra’ and Wild Cursive for chamber music during the US premiere by Washington Idaho Symphony at Silverthorne Theater at LC State.

Yii has made our nation proud by being the third Malaysian to be awarded the American Fulbright Scholar in Residence.
At Washington State University, Yii is teaching weekly composition classes for 7 students, which are made up of 1 PhD, 4 Master, and 2 degree students.
At the same time, he also delivers workshops and presentations at the Full Convocation every two weeks to all faculty members and all students from the school of music.
Yii is in the US for his Fulbright stint for two semesters. He has exhibited his excellent teaching and research works at the university and will have his musical compositions featured in the States, including five upcoming concerts in Pullman under his name, as well as being named as a featured composer for a music festival at Pullman.
On top of his busy schedule in the States, Yii will continue to supervise and guide SEGi music students, especially the composition groups.
