SEGi College School of MPU & Languages hosts flood-safety webinar in response to recent floods in Malaysia

In the first week of March this year, rain that went on for three days flooded many parts of Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka. This followed the floods that also happened in December 2021 and January this year. Needless to say, floods are traumatic. They cause damage to property, sometimes destroying entire homes, and in extreme cases, they even claim lives.

SEGi College’s School of MPU and Language, in an effort to educate the public on how to face, manage and overcome another such crisis, recently conducted a virtual talk entitled ‘Flood Safety: By Choice, Not By Chance in collaboration with the Ecotourism and Conservation Society Malaysia (ECOMY).

Mr Andrew Sebastian, President and CEO of ECOMY, spoke about how to prepare for a flood, including basic items, emergency food, medication, and emergency kits. He reminded that people in every community should do due diligence to find out what areas are prone to floods, to be vigilant and pay attention to the news, to contact local emergency authorities when the situation becomes unmanageable, and to prepare an evacuation plan.

SEGi College cares and hopes that the information from this webinar will be shared and spread.
