I’m Peggy Lim, SEGi College Subang Jaya alumni currently furthering my studies in Middlesex University, UK. I previously studied Diploma in Creative Multimedia with the Faculty of Creative Arts and Design. The main reason I chose this course was that after SPM, I was interested in video production, and I found out that this SEGi diploma is widely recognised both locally and internationally.
During my diploma years, I discovered that I did not only learn video editing and filming, but also learned the whole process of video production starting from the ideation concept to the storyboard to the final output. I was also very happy to learn and experience 2D and 3D animation production as part of the programme.
I have so many unforgettable memories in SEGi, but one of my fondest memories was the field trip where I went to Bukit Tinggi with my lecturers and coursemates to complete our assignment. Studying at SEGI College Subang Jaya is much more classroom lessons. Our lecturers taught us great lessons outdoors, and I gained so much real-life experience when I was out there doing my assignments and projects.
During my time at SEGi College Subang Jaya, I got to explore so many things that I had never encountered before, and one of these was organising a series of industry talks and events with my team members. My team and I had to contact people from industry, do presentation to pitch our proposals and get them to agree to be part of the events. Then I had to arrange the event slots, manage the team, and make sure each event was successfully organised.
Another event was when my lecturer gave me the chance to conduct a multimedia workshop. I was one of the speakers during the workshop session and I taught the audience how to create basic animation with a demonstration. The feedback from the audience was remarkable.
I also managed to get involved with multimedia-showcase events to which we invited our parents, family members, friends, people from industries to view our creative artwork. The best thing about this showcase was that I gained direct feedback from people in the industry. I have learned so much from them and this really improved my portfolio.
I want to take this opportunity to specially thank my lecturer, Mr Khor, for all these years of teaching us. He is one of the best lecturers we’ve ever had. The way he guided us really helped us to find rewarding and secure jobs in the industry, but in my case, I decided to continue my studies and he was very supportive of my decision.
Thanks too to all my other lecturers and my friends for being part of my life journey from a naïve girl hungering for knowledge in video and animation production, to where am I now, a degree student at Middlesex University London, UK studying BA (Hons) 3D Animation and Games. I am glad to have started my tertiary education with SEGi as the solid foundation to my degree programme.
Before I decided to study at Middlesex University, I was very happy to find out that my Diploma in Creative Multimedia from SEGi College Subang Jaya was fully recognised by several universities which accepted my application into their degree programmes. I am glad that my diploma is widely recognised locally and internationally.
Although I’m not sure what my life will be like in the future, one thing for sure is that my passion to travel to many parts of the world to explore and find different ways and techniques of how creative people create animation has now become a reality. I also have big dream to produce my own animation series.
Once again thank you to SEGi, to all my lecturers, family members and friends for all your unconditional support.
