SEGi College Sarawak Lecturer, Gregory Poh, organised a study visit for students to connect the Food and Beverage Classroom Industry to the Real-Life Practical Industry. The visit took place at Hilton Hotel Kuching and allowed 10 students from the Diploma in Hotel Management and the Diploma in Culinary Arts to gain more knowledge and skills from experienced supervisors. The visit aimed to help students understand how the real-life practical industry works, rather than just the theory, so that they can apply their knowledge to practical situations.
Several Hilton Hotel Kuching outlets were visited, including Toh Yuen Restaurant, The Koffee, and River View Café. The students were briefed on the layout, style of service, and various types of food and beverages provided at each stop. In addition, the students learned how to make delicious coffee drinks like cappuccinos and lattes.
The study visit provided students with a wealth of knowledge and skills in the Food and Beverage Industry, and they had a great time learning. The Hilton Hotel Kuching’s management was praised for their efforts in organising and providing such a valuable experience for SEGi College Sarawak students.
SEGi College Sarawak is committed to providing its students with hands-on learning opportunities and experiences that will benefit them in their future careers. The initiative taken by Lecturer Gregory Poh to organise this study visit exemplifies the institution’s commitment to preparing its students for success in the hospitality industry.
