By Ms Candy Chong, Programme Leader, Allied Health Sciences
On 27 June 2022, SEGi College Sarawak’s Faculty of Allied Health had the pleasure of having Ms Diana Binti Junaidi and Mr Darrell Gayok, wealth planners from Prudential Malaysia, for a sharing session entitled “Lifestyle, Heath and You.” Participants were students from the Diploma in Healthcare, the Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, and the Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health. The main aim of the session was to increase awareness of the relationship between lifestyle and health.
To many people, a healthy lifestyle means that both physical and mental health are in balance and functioning well together. However, the majority of people have sedentary lifestyles that involve little or no physical exercise, wherein most of the day is spent sitting, lying down and spending little energy.
Ms Diana talked about the effects of a sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits. These habits can lead to non-communicable diseases such as obesity, premature death, Type-2 diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. Mr Darrell spoke about the importance of keeping bodily health.
SEGi College Sarawak is glad to have hosted this talk that will hopefully make a positive impact.
