Leading with distinction: SEGi Leo Club sets the bar high in 2023-2024

SEGi College Sarawak’s Leo Club took centre stage at the Region 1 Leo Clubs Joint Installation for the fiscal year 2023-2024. The vibrant event, held on August 27, 2023, at the Dayak Bidayuh National Association, saw the convergence of nineteen Leo clubs, totalling approximately 350 participants. 

The occasion was graced by esteemed guests, including District Governor 308-A2, Kapitan Ronny Hiew Ah Choi (Lion Club of Keningau Mandarin), Second Vice District Governor, Dato’ Winnie Lee Siew Ping (Lion Club of Kota Kinabalu Oriental), and Lions Nursing Home Chairman, Datin Ellis Suriyati Omar (Past International Director). The joint installation featured the induction of new members and the installation of key officers, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and commitment within the Leo community. 

Representing SEGi College Sarawak, Vincent Cheong, an accounting lecturer for the Faculty of Business and Accounting and the Faculty Advisor and Leo Club Advisor, attended on behalf of SEGi’s Principal, Dr. Susie Lau Meng Ching. The presence of the sponsoring Lion Club of Kota Sentosa, along with the District Chairperson for Marketing, Kapitan Lion Chong Nam Fah, added to the significance of SEGi’s participation. 

For the fiscal year 2023-2024, SEGi Leo Club appointed key officers to lead with distinction. Leo Kueh Xuan assumed the role of President, supported by Leo Jaclyn Tan Ying Xi as Secretary and Leo Tiffany Wee Ka Ying as Treasurer. Leo Cheryline Chung Zhi Yi and Leo Lee Jun Sheng, Vice President and Vice Treasurer, respectively, represented Leo Jaclyn Tan and Leo Tiffany Wee. District Governor Kapitan Ronny Hiew honoured the officers with banners and pins. 

Beyond the installation, a delightful lunch reception ensued, accompanied by entertaining performances by the Leos. The programme concluded around 2 pm, resonating with the Leo community. 

This engagement underscores SEGi College Sarawak’s commitment to holistic education, instilling leadership, community service, and collaboration values. The active involvement of SEGi’s Leo Club in such events reflects the institution’s dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals who contribute meaningfully to society.
