Healthcare heroes in action: Students promote women’s wellness

A group of SEGi College Sarawak’s Year-Three Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology students recently held a campaign to create awareness on female reproductive health.

The students set up a one-day booth at SEGi College Sarawak’s Branch Campus to highlight possible medical conditions of the female reproductive system, to explain the components, functions,  and its related health products.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a staggering 80% of women worldwide face reproductive health issues at some point in their lives, making it imperative to raise awareness and promote comprehensive education on the subject.

The students also prepared some quizzes and games to attract participants to their booth. Some of the students from other programmes, such as Business, Early Childhood Education and Hospitality, were able to learn the importance of the female reproductive tract, something which many neglect. This campaign is also part of their assignments, where they were evaluated in terms of participation and communication skills.

The students had an enlightening experience and were happy to have been given this wonderful opportunity to prove themselves, gain this experience, and boosted their self-confidence.
