On the 5 October 2023, SEGi’s Faculty of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences (FOMNHS) organised a captivating field trip to PETROSAINS PLAYSMART™ Kuching. The trip aimed to enhance students’ understanding of physics concepts through interactive play and exploration, while also showcasing the practical applications of physics in everyday life.
PETROSAINS PLAYSMART™ Kuching, situated at Ground Floor, Block Mph, State Civic Centre, Panggung Udara, 93000 Kuching, offers a plethora of exhibitions and activities designed to engage and educate young minds about physics. With hands-on experiments and interactive displays, this state-of-the-art facility allows students to delve into fundamental principles of physics, including simple machines, forces, motion, sound, light, electricity, and much more.
Under the guidance of enthusiastic instructors, SEGi students from the Certificates in Science programnme eagerly participated in a range of educational activities. From experimenting with pulleys and levers to exploring the wonders of electricity through interactive displays, the students were immersed in a world of scientific discovery.
The impact of this educational excursion extends beyond the trip itself. According to a study conducted by the University of Edinburgh, interactive learning experiences significantly improve students’ understanding and retention of scientific knowledge. By providing such opportunities, SEGi ensures that its students are equipped with a solid foundation in science education.
