SEGi College Sarawak recently held the Academic Performance and Extra-Curricular (APEX) Award Ceremony 2021 to celebrate the many achievements of their exemplary students. The event was at held at the Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCGCCI) Innovation Hub on 4th December 2021 at 9 a.m.
Students, staff, and lecturers were present at the at KCGC Innovation Hub for the ceremony to honour students, staff and alumni who have distinguished themselves through their academic rigor, college involvement, and professional achievements throughout the year. Thirty-five students received the Academic Excellence Award and Principal Award, and five students were received the Extra-Curricular Award.
The ceremony also honoured two alumni of SEGi College Sarawak to recognise their extraordinary achievements in their profession and entrepreneurship. Madam Ng Lee Boon, a graduate from the Diploma in Early Childhood Education, won the Professional Achievement Award. Madam Ng is a passionate early-childhood educator and owner of a preschool, and also the President of Persatuan Pengasuh Kanak-Kanak Berdaftar Sarawak. She actively participates in the childhood-education sector, supporting and taking care of the welfare of preschools registered under the association. Mr Ardeles Phua, a graduate from the Diploma in Hotel Management, won the Entrepreneurial Award. As a young entrepreneur, Mr Phua started his business with a food truck known as NOMS on the streets in 2015. This has now evolved into a growing franchise and an established brand. Today, NOMS has three outlets and serves some of the best sandwiches and burgers in Sarawak.
