SEGi College Sarawak’s Faculty of Hospitality organised a study visit to Pullman Hotel Kuching on Wednesday 6 April 2022 from 2.00pm to 4.30pm. Twenty students from the Diploma in Hotel Management and Diploma in Culinary Arts participated in this, accompanied by three lecturers.
The main objective of this was to give the students an opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in each department and the importance of each in the hotel industry, as well as to give them real-life industry experience.
The group was met by the Hotel Manager and Heads of Department. The welcoming address was made by Mr Adonis, Talent and Culture Manager of the Talent and Culture Department which is otherwise the HR Department. Mr Adonis gave an interesting introduction to the Pullman Hotel Kuching.
The students were then taken to the other departments, namely Finance, Maintenance, Food and Beverage, Kitchen, Fitness, MarCom, Front Office, Housekeeping, Security and Talent and Culture Department to be introduced to and briefed on the hotel’s organisation chart, and the functions and importance of each department.
The students and lecturers were also given the opportunity to play some games.
The students also visited the front of the house departments, including the Food and Beverage outlets, banquet halls, bars, the Executive Lounge, the swimming pool, and the gym.
