World OSH Day 2022 – working together to build safe and healthy culture

As promoted and observed by International Labor Organization (ILO), World Day for Safety and Health or World OSH Day at work is an international campaign on the 28th of April every year.

This year, World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2022 focuses on enhancing social dialogue towards a culture of safety and health. The theme of this year’s World OSH Day is “Act Together to Build a Safe and Healthy Culture”

In supporting the campaign by ILO, the Malaysian Minister of Human Resource, YB Datuk Seri M Saravanan, shared a short speech for World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2022. Attached here is his message:

The minister in his short speech reminds both employers and employee of their respective responsibilities in adopting and implementing good occupational safety and health (OSH) practices. In addition, he said that Malaysia’s commitment to occupational safety and health at the workplace is reflected through the enactment of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA 1994), the setting up of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), and the establishment of the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). He also added that employers should make sure that the appropriate tools to collect, analyse, and organise the information needed to maintain a safe and healthy working environment are made available.

In accordance with that, SEGi College Penang’s commitment is also reflected through the establishment of the Safety and Health Committee. The objective of this Safety and Health Committee is to create a safe and healthy working environment for our students and staff. The committee members will have a meeting once in three months and discuss any issues related to safety and health. Adding to that, the Safety and Health Committee will continue to stay updated on the current government guidelines on safety and health.

Together we act towards building a positive safety and health culture!
