Recently, the School of Information Technology (SoIT) in SEGi College Penang, led by lecturers Shahidh and Rosmah, organised a short fil contest with the objective of allowing students to express their ideas in their videos according to the theme of “My Life My SEGi”.
A total of 24 videos were submitted on 17 July 2023 by the Diploma in Information & Technology (DIIT), American Degree Program (ADP), Diploma in Occupational Safety Hazard (DIOSH) and Diploma in Early Childhood & Education (DECE) students.
The submitted videos were then filtered to 9 final videos. The selection criteria were based on creativity and content of the videos. The videos were then played for five days on one of the screens at the campus’ lobby area and gained the attention of SEGi’s visitors and staff.
The final event of the Short Film Competition was conducted on 25 July 2023 whereby the finalists’ videos were played to a group of audience with judges, Amizar, a lecturer from SoIT and Noraihan, a Programme Leader from DIOSH.
The winners of the competition were:
First Prize: Logeshaan A/L Murukaya (DIIT)
Second Prize: Krithiga A/P Gunasegaran and Karthiga A/P Manivannan (ADP)
Third Prize: Jessline Ng Qiao Xuan and Melissa Goh (ADP)
The Short Film Competition was a great success, and it helped to showcase the talents of SEGi College Penang students and to raise awareness of the college’s digital creative event. The event was well-attended by students and staff of SEGi.
