Students from SEGi recently competed in the ParaThai “Aroi! Raya” Challenge 2023, and eight groups were sent to represent both categories. The beverage category was represented by three groups, while the food category was represented by five groups. All participants were Diploma in Hotel Management and Diploma in Culinary Art students.
The students’ abilities and hard work paid off, as they excelled in the preliminary round and qualified for the final stage, which will be held on 11 February 2023 at SEGi. Pad Thai, a creative dish created by a student group, was awarded third place. The group won RM200 in cash, an RM200 ParaThai Dining Voucher, one carton of VIDA Zero drinks and a Mahsuri Hamper.
Competitions can help students develop problem-solving skills, increase confidence and leadership abilities, and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment. SEGi encourages its students to participate in various competitions in order to provide them with opportunities to learn, grow, and develop important skills such as teamwork and leadership.
Competition can also be a powerful motivator for students, encouraging them to work harder and push themselves beyond their comfort zones. Students can gain self-confidence, discover their strengths and weaknesses, and cultivate a growth mindset that will serve them well in all aspects of their lives by participating in such events.
