Some of our SEGi College students organised a webinar to share some information and the effect of food waste. Students from SEGI College Penang hosted a “Food Wastage” webinar on 21 October 2022.
The objective of this webinar was to share some helpful information and raise public awareness of food waste, reduce health hazards to people and the environment and develop good waste reduction practices in daily life.
The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) said in 2013 that the entire amount of food produced for human consumption equals one-third of that total, or 1.6 billion tonnes annually. The first factor is the need for proper planning, and lack of proper planning is one of the major causes of food waste.
Therefore, our SEGi College students from the School of Business organised a webinar to share information on food wastage.
Nur Shuhada Abdul Basir, a lecturer at the School of Hospitality and Tourism SEGi College Penang, was invited as a guest speaker for this webinar. She provided insightful information on food wastage and its impacts.
It was a very interactive webinar session. Students shared a google form with the participants to get feedback and suggestions for future events. They provided an e-cert to the speakers and participants. The students gave a token of appreciation to the speaker.
