On 11 April 2026, students from the Department of Computing at SEGi College Penang proudly participated in the STEM Project Competition, held at Dewan Utama, USM Engineering Campus, in conjunction with the IDEA Science Fair 2026. Centred on the theme “Sustainovation for a Greener Nation,” the event brought together innovative minds from across leading institutions.
Representing SEGi College Penang under the Bachelor of Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) programme, the team competed in Category C with their impactful project, the DonorLink Application. The project demonstrated how technology can be leveraged to address real-world challenges, particularly within the healthcare sector.
The DonorLink Application is a comprehensive digital platform designed to enhance the blood donation ecosystem. Key features include donor registration, real-time blood supply tracking, appointment scheduling, and awareness notifications. The system also integrates collaboration with NGOs and healthcare organisations, ensuring a more efficient, connected, and responsive donation process.
Led by Calvin Ng Wei Keong, alongside team members Melvin Lee Chia Hwa, Cheong Kai Qi, and Stefani Ang, the group showcased strong technical expertise, creativity, and teamwork. Their project stood out for its practical implementation and its ability to create meaningful social impact.
The competition featured participants from various institutions, including SEGi University, UTM, UPM, USM, and IPK College. Competing at such a high level, the team successfully secured a Silver Medal, marking a significant achievement and reflecting their dedication and innovation.
This accomplishment highlights the ability of SEGi College Penang students to develop solution-driven technologies that address real societal needs. It also reinforces the institution’s commitment to nurturing future-ready graduates who are capable of making a positive difference through innovation.
