The International Innovation and Exhibition Fair (IIEF) 2026 was held from 7 to 9 April 2026 at Kolej MARA Kulim, organised by MARA Malaysia. The event serves as a prestigious international platform that showcases the creativity of inspiring innovators and inventors in transforming new ideas, methods, and technologies into real-world solutions through innovation.
IIEF has been successfully organised in previous years, including 2024 and 2025, attracting participants from Malaysia and abroad. The competition brings together students, educators, researchers, industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and organisations to exchange ideas and compete across various innovation categories. IIEF 2026 continues to provide opportunities for participants to gain international recognition while fostering collaboration and research.
In this exciting event, two group of students from Department of Computing, SEGi College Penang proudly represented their institution with innovative projects, both centred around the concept of “shuttle” systems yet applied in different contexts. One group from the Bachelor of Information Technology, led by Chay Wei Song, developed the Shuttle Sport System, a platform designed for booking badminton courts, coach training sessions, and managing related activities. The system was created for its stakeholder, the Persatuan Tan Si Eng Chuan Tong in Bukit Mertajam, and was completed in collaboration with Wong Yean Jun, demonstrating strong teamwork in delivering a practical digital solution for community sports management. Meanwhile, another group consisting of Cheong Kai Qi and Calvin Ng Wei Keong from the Bachelor of Computer Science programme introduced the e-Shuttle SEGi apps system. This innovation focuses on improving the SEGi College Penang (SCPG) student shuttle van service by providing a more systematic and efficient slot booking platform, enabling students to reserve rides easily, reducing reliance on manual coordination methods such as WhatsApp, and enhancing overall transport efficiency for daily student mobility. Both projects successfully achieved Silver medals, marking an impressive accomplishment for these first-year students.
Both projects demonstrate practical innovation in solving real-world problems through digital solutions. Despite their different applications, they share a common goal of improving user experience, efficiency, and accessibility.
Overall, this “Double Shuttle, Double Silver” achievement marks an excellent start for 2026 and highlights the strong potential of these young innovators. It is hoped that this success will inspire them to continue pushing boundaries and contributing meaningful technological solutions to society in the future.
