A group of students from SEGi College Penang’s School of Business organised a community service event titled “Good Lifestyle, Keep Obesity Away” – to create awareness of the risk of obesity and to share with participants some of the methods to prevent obesity.
The webinar was organised on 19th October 2022 from 8.00 pm to 10.00 pm via an online zoom meeting. The main objective of organising this webinar was to raise public awareness of health management. This is because COVID-19 limits interrupt the daily routines of children, adolescents, and young adults, causing alterations in their food habits and physical activity.
To safeguard them, healthcare providers should emphasise the risk of obesity and offer prevention techniques. Therefore, our SEGI College students organised a webinar to share some managing health tips regarding diet and the impact of obesity on our health.
Dr. Richard Cheah Jun Xian was invited as a guest speaker for this webinar session. He has received many awards, including the FITM health and fitness nutrition certification, FITM performance nutrition certification, and Fitness and Health community builder. Furthermore, the speaker shared very useful skills and methods with the participants so that everyone could effectively maintain their health and control their weight.
During the webinar, Dr. Cheah also hosted a quiz game with participants. Those who answered the quiz correctly were awarded prizes. He also ensures every audience understands what they have learned from the webinar session.
After the event, our SEGI students shared the link with participants to collect feedback and suggestions from the participants. This great exposure enhanced our SEGi students’ time management, social, communication, and leadership skills.
