Experiencing classroom teaching with industrial exposure

On 17 October 2022, Cohort 32 started their community Health Nursing posting at Clinic Kelana Jaya. Orientation was done by the staff nurse to ensure that the students knew the types of treatment that can be performed in each room.

The clinical instructor also took the students to the Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Petaling to make student passes.

After the basic orientation, the staff nurse took time to explain the weaning diet for a baby who is between 6 months old and one year old. Here’s a fun fact learnt from that session: Instant Nestum Cereal is not recommended for babies.

The staff nurse also explained the functions of the three types of books commonly seen in the clinic. The three books in blue, pink and orange are health books for baby boys, baby girls, and antenatal mothers, respectively.

During the students’ first week of posting at the clinic, they all felt so happy because they enjoy doing work and learning something new. Furthermore, they said the staff nurses there were very kind and helpful. When the student was unsure about something, the staff nurses would help and teach them patiently.
