On 28 March 2022, Kavitha Soundararajan, lecturer and Programme Leader from the School of Education, brought her students to a renowned pre-school called Taska Sinaran Ceria Montessori in PJ. The DECE students started learning the subject Science and Technology from January 2022 onwards with her. The students showed enormous interest and gained useful knowledge about the subject on various topics such as concepts, approaches and pedagogies to teach young children.
The students came up with fun experiments and activities after brain storming, and started working on preparing resources for the big day. The day arrived and they catered to 4-, 5- and 6-year-old children. The students carefully prepared and delivered the experiments based on the needs of the children of the school. At the end of the day, they learnt how to handle children of different age groups. They were very happy to be exposed to real-life teaching scenarios. All the experiments were well received and appreciated by the children, teachers and the principal of the schools.
The principal, Ms Indra mentioned that it was a “great job done by the students who put in lots of effort. The children had loads of fun while learning”.
