In a dedicated initiative to enhance community preparedness and potentially save lives, SEGi College Subang Jaya played host to a pivotal talk on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) on September 26, 2023. The event attracted a diverse group of participants eager to acquire life-saving skills and knowledge.
Guiding the informative session was Dr. Mohd Afiq, a seasoned instructor certified in CPR and AED usage, boasting over a decade of practical experience. Dr. Afiq delved into the fundamentals of CPR, covering essential techniques such as chest compressions and rescue breaths. Attendees had the unique opportunity to witness and practice these life-saving techniques on a mannequin, receiving personalized guidance from Dr. Afiq himself. Emphasizing the pivotal role of AEDs in resuscitation efforts, he underscored their ability to significantly boost survival rates when employed promptly.
Dr. Afiq provided insights on the proper execution of the Heimlich manoeuvre and introduced the MyResQ phone application, adding a technological dimension to emergency response. Participants departed from the event not only armed with practical skills but also with increased confidence in their ability to respond effectively to cardiac emergencies. These endeavours extend beyond individual preparedness, fostering a collective sense of community responsibility.
