SEGi students shared the spirit of giving and gratitude through a heartfelt Iftar with RACTAR Orphanage and SEGi Zakat Students, held on 21 March 2025 at RACTAR Subang Jaya. Organised by the 18th Student Representative Council under the leadership of Nur Fatin Azwa Zaki, this meaningful gathering brought together 30 participants for a warm, communal evening meal during Ramadan, bridging compassion and connection between SEGi’s student body and the local orphanage community.
The event offered more than just food — it provided a sense of belonging, dignity, and mutual respect for all who took part. Iftar is a powerful symbol of sharing, and this gathering served as a reminder of the importance of uplifting vulnerable groups, especially during spiritually significant seasons. Students engaged directly with children from RACTAR, exchanging stories, laughter, and prayers in a setting that celebrated empathy, unity, and humanity.
Globally, more than 700 million people still live in extreme poverty, while over 828 million suffer from hunger, according to the United Nations. Local efforts like this not only raise awareness but also empower youth to take an active role in building more just and inclusive societies. By addressing these issues through meaningful community engagement, SEGi College Subang Jaya instils a culture of responsibility and values-driven leadership in its students.
Beyond charity, the event promoted a deeper understanding of social inequality and encouraged long-term perspectives on community service and zakat-based support systems. For the Zakat recipients within SEGi, the Iftar also reaffirmed their place within a compassionate and supportive educational ecosystem where no one is left behind.
This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
SDG 1: No Poverty
SDG 2: Zero Hunger
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
