SEGi College Subang Jaya ushered in the festive spirit of unity and togetherness with its Hari Raya Celebration on 15 April 2025, held at the Student Lounge, Level 1. Organised by the 18th Student Representative Council under the leadership of Nur Fatin Azwa Binti Zaki, the celebration brought together 60 participants for an afternoon of cultural appreciation, connection, and joy. It was a vibrant display of traditional attire, festive music, local delicacies, and meaningful student-led interaction — a reminder that inclusion and belonging are essential components of a thriving campus community.
This initiative wasn’t just about celebrating Hari Raya — it was about creating a shared space where students from diverse backgrounds could come together and learn from one another. In a multicultural society like Malaysia, embracing each other’s festivals builds empathy, cultural awareness, and mutual respect. These values are essential in today’s globalised world, where cultural competency is increasingly seen as a key graduate attribute.
Events like this reinforce the importance of cultural inclusion in education. According to UNESCO, inclusive student environments significantly contribute to building peaceful, sustainable communities and promote positive youth development (https://unesdoc.unesco.org/ark:/48223/pf0000372579). As students engaged in festive games, performances, and communal meals, they weren’t just having fun — they were participating in a broader narrative of diversity, equity, and social harmony.
SEGi continues to nurture a campus experience that extends beyond academics, where student engagement is a platform for leadership, collaboration, and purposeful celebration. By championing inclusivity through events like the Hari Raya celebration, students are empowered to value their own culture while respecting others, building bridges that go beyond borders or belief.
This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
SDG 4: Quality Education
