Students raise funds for underprivileged children with food and music event!

Co-Curriculum Management students at SEGi College Subang Jaya recently organised a successful fundraising event, Food and Music, on 14 March 2023. The event, held on the Ground Floor main lobby, aimed to raise funds for the Blessed Home in Bandar Sunway, which serves underprivileged children. The event, which was organised by the School of MPU and Languages, drew a total of 100 participants.

To raise funds, the students sold their signature foods and beverages throughout the event. They also had live band music and martial arts demonstrations to keep the audience entertained. The audience was ecstatic to see the performance and support the cause. The event provided an opportunity for the public to contribute to and give back to society.

This initiative by the students not only raised funds for the children, but it also instilled in them a sense of responsibility to help those in need. It taught the students to appreciate and be grateful for what they have. The event taught them that they can help others and contribute to society.

Such events are important in the community because they foster a spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility. People who volunteer are more likely to be happier, healthier, and have a stronger sense of purpose in life, according to a study conducted by the Corporation for National and Community Service. Volunteers also have lower rates of depression and mortality, according to the study.

In addition to raising funds for the underprivileged children, the Food and Music event organized by Co-Curriculum Management students at SEGi College Subang Jaya also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2: Zero Hunger. This goal aims to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture by 2030.

By providing funds to the Blessed Home in Bandar Sunway, the students are supporting a sustainable solution to provide nutritious food for underprivileged children. The event also helps to raise awareness about the importance of SDG 2 and encourages individuals and communities to act towards achieving this goal.
