SEGi – The only college to receive SKPA Certificate

SEGi University & Colleges is one of the only three higher learning institution in Malaysia to receive the digital certification of the ‘Sistem Kelulusan Pengambilan Pelajar Antarabangsa di Institusi Pendidikan (SKPA) at Hotel Le Meridien Putrajaya.

There were 3 higher education provider, 2 international schools, 2 Certified Centres and 1 Skill Centre that was awarded the SKPA. The Ministry of Home Affairs in cooperation with Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) has developed the SKPA to improve the services and to support the government’s aspiration to reach 250,000 international students by 2025.

SEGi College Subang Jaya was the only college in Malaysia being selected for this project, mainly due to its high amount of international students’ enrolments yearly and the countless years of proven positive track record.

The development of SKPA is divided into two phases, the first phase wi ll be implemented in December 2022, where it features a new format of international student recruitment approval in the form of digital certificates. During the first phase, the results of the international student recruitment application will be given in the form of a digital certificate that can be downloaded through the SKPA link provided.

As for the second phase, it is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2023. During this time, all educational institutions applying for international student recruitment approval can check the application status through SKPA.

This system will involve educational institutions complying with private higher education institutions (IPTS), polytechnics, language centres, skills centres, training centres, international schools, and accredited centres.

The launching ceremony was attended by Ministry of Home Affairs Deputy Secretary General (Security) Datuk Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman, Ministry of Home Affairs Deputy General Secretary (Principles and Control) Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and Education Malaysia Global Services chief executive officer Mohd Radzlan Jalaludin.
