Faculty of Education wins big in STEM Early Childhood Online Challenge

Our Proud Winners in the STEM Early Childhood Online Challenge

Everybody loves a winner. That includes us here at SEGi College Subang Jaya. And we’ve not got just one winner, we have TWO! Not just two winners, but TWO GROUPS of winners! In the STEM Early Childhood Online Challenge held from 30 November 2020 to 5 January 2021, they did themselves, their families, and us all at SEGi proud, when they were announced as winners 14 January 2021.

The competition was organised by the Virtual Convention MySTEM Ambassador (MySTEM Ambassador is a collaborative programme among three Malaysian public universities: University Malaya, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). This initiative aimed to raise STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) awareness in Early Childhood among educators, caregivers, and STEM careers in the future, in line with the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2013 to 2025 which identifies and emphasises STEM education as the way forward towards a developed nation. There was a total of 180 participants.

This award is particularly prestigious and we are particularly proud of our winners because it was a nationwide competition and the very first STEM competition in Early Childhood in Malaysia.  The contestants came from both public and private higher institutions and schools.

Our students have proven the strength and comprehensiveness of our Early Childhood programmes (both our Diploma in Early childhood Education and Bachelor of Arts in the Early Years) in applying their knowledge and skills in such innovative and creative manners as they did in this competition.
