SCSJ students provided love and support to orphans

SEGi College Subang Jaya’s students from the Co-Curriculum Management under the School of MPU & Language have conducted a charity event, ‘Love in Action’ in Trinity Community Children Home, a sanctuary for orphaned, abandoned, battered, abused and neglected children located in Petaling Jaya.

This event aims to spread love to the children and have fun with them. It provides an opportunity for our students to give back to the community and enhance leadership skills and self-confidence. Our students also fundraise for clothes, daily essentials, and food for the orphanage.

The event was held on 5 November 2022 at Trinity Community Children Home. When our students went to the orphanage, some children had classes. Therefore, our students conducted a few activities with the remaining children. After doing the activities with the children, they cleaned up the orphanage.

Our students met and interviewed the volunteer, workers, and children at the orphanage during the event. They also met the person in charge of the children’s home, Pastor Wendy Hew, on 7 November 2022 because Pastor Wendy was not around on the event date due to her class in Kuala Lumpur. The feedback received from Pastor Wendy was that the children were very happy with our students’ presence and enjoyed the fun moment they had together.

From this event, our students learnt that it is very important to be actively engaged in this voluntary activity to experience connecting with other people outside the classroom and do activities that can contribute to society.

Students go out from the comfort of their daily life and spend time with these children, which helps them understand the reality of others’ lives and are aware of many less fortunate people around them so that they can offer their help and support for these children.
