Malaysia Day at SEGi Subang Jaya was a colourful reminder of what it means to belong to one nation with many stories. The Student Lounge at Level 1 came alive as students, staff and friends gathered on 17 September to commemorate the formation of Malaysia and celebrate the spirit of unity that continues to hold us together.
Organised by the 18th Student Representative Council, the celebration brought together about sixty participants dressed in traditional attire from across Malaysia’s cultures. Laughter, conversations and the waving of Jalur Gemilang filled the room as everyone greeted one another like old friends, even if they had only just met.

Throughout the day, students expressed their love for the country through creative activities. Batik painting sessions turned blank canvases into vibrant artwork inspired by local motifs and landscapes, while a traditional attire showcase allowed participants to walk with pride in outfits that reflected their heritage. Live performances and a cosy mini food bazaar added to the festive mood, with music, food and art blending into one warm and welcoming campus experience.
Beyond the performances and photographs, the event encouraged students to appreciate Malaysia’s history, respect each other’s differences and recognise the strength that comes from diversity. It was a gentle but powerful reminder that nation building starts with understanding, empathy and shared celebration.
This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
