Interactive drone assembly activity by Engineering students

SEGi College Subang Jaya’s Engineering Club organised an event called the Drone Assembly Project by the Aspired Young Engineers on 14 June, 2022.

A drone is an unmanned aircraft, more formally known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or unmanned aircraft systems. Essentially, a drone is a flying robot that can be remotely controlled or fly autonomously using software-controlled flight plans in its embedded systems that work in conjunction with onboard sensors and a global positioning system (GPS).

The event was supervised by Mr Azhari and Ts Prakas from the Faculty of Engineering and IT (FOEIT) with the main objective of developing hands-on experience in drone technology.

The event is Phase 1 of the Drone Assembly Project, where most assembly activities are related to circuitry construction. Students are expected to complete the construction of the drones and have them tested by the end of the short semester.

The club members from non-electrical and electronic backgrounds were made aware of the E&E function in drone technology, and the participants shared knowledge and skills required for construction roadblocks.

This event also aimed to train the club members on STEM-based activities to draw SPM school-leavers to engineering and Industrial Revolution 4.0. The club plans to conduct similar events and bring drone technology to schools around Subang Jaya.

The Engineering Club of SEGi  University and Colleges Subang Jaya campus (SCSJ) is also an On-Campus Club of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), a global professional engineering institution founded in 1871.
