Graphic Design Talk: ‘Back To Speed!’

SEGi College Subang Jaya (SCSJ)’s Faculty of Creative Arts and Design (FOCAD) organised a short talk on Graphic Design called ‘Back To Speed’ on Thursday 16 June as part of our fortnight-long Info Week from 13 June to 24 June 2022. Sharing sessions were conducted in the first week with various topics related to each of FOCAD’s programmes.

Conducted by Mr Fauzi Zainal, Subject Expert and Programme Leader of the Graphic Design Department, the talk dealt with related topics and highlighted the current worldwide trends of graphic design both as an art form, and more importantly, as a field very much affected by the influence of artificial intelligence (AI).

The audience was reminded to keep up with the progressive trends of the graphic-design market and to ever keep themselves abreast with global needs especially with the demands of social media and content creation from all over the world. Game design, video content and social media management are just some of the new opportunities that graphic-design students must avail themselves to these days. On top of that, they were encouraged to look for opportunities abroad as many international companies are looking for Malaysian talents and have them work for their companies on a remote basis, paying US dollars to boot.

SEGi College Subang Jaya is working to streamline the syllabus into work-based learning (WBL) so that students can be guided and obtain further engagement and real working experience from industry as they undergo their studies at SCSJ.

Last semester’s excellent academic performance and other academic highlights were included to keep the audience on their feet. A few students were commended for their 4.00 GPA achievements. They were Aminath Zahuwa Siraj, Francis Thoo Khoon Meng, Lee Yi Kai, Low Poh Ting, Ng Jia Yi, Teng Jun Li and Chen Sze Mun. Overall, eighteen students have put themselves in line for the next Dean’s List award. Congratulations to them all!

A quick Q&A session followed, after which the talk ended on a very positive note.
