Going far with mass communication

SEGi College is all about equipping our students with multifaceted abilities that will help them break down barriers and achieve their goals and dreams. SEGi graduates are highly sought after by both the private and public sectors.

We recently interviewed our alumni from the Faculty of Creative Arts and Design (FOCAD), Ms Norashikin Nordin, who graduated with the Diploma in Mass Communication in 2017 from SEGi Subang. Norashikin is now an Assistant Director in the Package Development Division, of Tourism Malaysia. Her job responsibility supports Malaysia’s goal to be the world’s best tourist destination.

Norashikin chose Mass Communications as her major because she has always felt it to be her calling, much suited to her personality and passion to serve her country in particular, and people in general.

She recalls many fond memories of her days at SEGi Subang, the fondest of which is her final-year project WHO. for which she was president of her first-year programme. With help the help of her creative college mates, she organised an event so successful that it was featured by a national newspaper. She is still immensely proud of this project.

Norashikin credits SEGi for having brought her into the circle of the many special people of SEGi who changed her life by empowering her with knowledge, skills and life experience, among whom she lists her lecturers, Miss Mangala, Dr Nizam, Puan Nazha, and her Head of Faculty, Mr Roslan, whom she says all were great mentors during her time at SEGi Subang.

Norashikin says that her course assignments really helped her to prepare for life and work in the real world, especially in the government sector.

She advises current and future students always follow and feed their passions because the sky will then be the limit for them, just as it is for her.
