SEGi continued to promote a healthy and active student lifestyle with its Badminton Weekly Training Session, held on 13 April 2025 at the CPS Subang Badminton Sports Centre. Organised by the SEGi Badminton Club, this high-energy session brought together 15 participants for an afternoon of endurance-building drills, strategic gameplay, and community bonding through sport.
The session was more than just a physical workout — it was a platform for developing discipline, teamwork, and stress relief in a competitive yet supportive environment. As students juggle academic demands, physical activity plays a critical role in boosting mental health and emotional well-being. According to the World Health Organization, regular exercise reduces the risk of depression by up to 30% and enhances cognitive function among young adults. Initiatives like this ensure that students don’t just succeed academically but thrive holistically.
Badminton remains one of Malaysia’s most beloved sports, and by integrating weekly training sessions into the student co-curricular experience, SEGi College Subang Jaya helps instil national pride and personal discipline in tandem. Beyond technical skill, these gatherings nurture leadership qualities and collaborative thinking — values essential for future professionals in any field.
Sports-based student engagement is also a powerful tool for inclusion. These sessions provide an equal playing field, allowing students from all backgrounds to participate and build confidence in their physical and social abilities. As highlighted in UNESCO’s Quality Physical Education Guidelines, structured sport enhances educational outcomes and promotes equality through inclusive access to fitness and wellness.
This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
SDG 4: Quality Education
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
