SEGi College Subang Jaya recently reached out to young minds through an inspiring psychology talk titled “Minda Sihat” held at SMK Bandar Baru Sri Petaling on 16 January 2026. The session was delivered by Ms Thevamalar S. from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Education, Language, Psychology and Music, and attended by approximately 400 to 500 students from Form 3 to Form 5.
The talk focused on introducing students to the concept of a growth mindset and how it shapes the way individuals approach challenges, learning and personal development. Ms Thevamalar explained the key differences between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset, helping students understand how their thoughts and beliefs can influence their motivation, resilience and overall wellbeing.
A key highlight of the session was the discussion on failure. Students were encouraged to see failure not as a setback, but as an opportunity to learn, improve and grow. Through relatable examples and interactive explanations, the talk reframed common negative reactions to failure into more constructive and positive perspectives, empowering students to build confidence and persistence in their academic and personal journeys.
The large group of students responded enthusiastically, gaining practical insights into how small changes in thinking can lead to healthier emotional responses and stronger mental resilience. By raising awareness about mindset and emotional wellbeing, the session supported students in developing healthier attitudes toward learning and life challenges.
This school engagement was organised by the Marketing Department of SEGi College Subang Jaya, with the support of Cloie Au Lai Kar, Jazlena Binti Ibrahim and Amanda Chang Wei Yinn.
