The Real Lessons in Leadership Can’t Be Found in Books

SEGi successfully hosted its Super Leader Camp from 26th to 27th April 2025, at the picturesque Permata Pugu Camping Site in Lundu. This two-day, one-night event brought together 28 eager student participants for an immersive leadership development experience, highlighting the institution’s dedication to nurturing future leaders who can make a tangible impact in their communities.

The camp was meticulously designed to help participants build essential leadership, communication, and emotional intelligence skills. The core modules, “Lead with Purpose,” “Connect & Collaborate,” and “Emotionally Agile,” provided a perfect blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experiences. Through engaging workshops, group activities, and interactive sharing sessions, participants were able to enhance their self-awareness, resilience, and interpersonal communication skills — key qualities of effective leadership in today’s fast-evolving world.

The initiative, led by SEGi College Sarawak’s Faculty of Education and Social Sciences, provided students with practical leadership tools that are directly aligned with the sustainable development goals. The programme placed a strong emphasis on personal growth, encouraging students to form lasting connections while working alongside peers from various academic backgrounds. This approach not only enriched their leadership capabilities but also highlighted the power of collaboration and community building.

The camp also underscores SEGi’s ongoing commitment to holistic education. By bridging academic pursuits with real-world leadership challenges, SEGi fosters an environment where students are empowered to grow personally and professionally. The camp experience has inspired many participants to take on leadership roles in their respective communities, showcasing the true value of experiential learning in shaping future leaders.
