The Most Important Thing Students Got This Week? A Career Path

SEGi has taken another bold step forward in shaping industry-ready graduates with the signing of strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with four key industry players: My Team Stars (M) Sdn Bhd, Razali Abd Karim & Co PLT, Siaw & Partner, and Thien Lee Marketing Sdn Bhd. This milestone reinforces SEGi’s longstanding commitment to bridging the gap between classroom theory and real-world application, especially for students pursuing the Diploma in Accountancy and Bachelor of Accounting and Finance.

With Malaysia’s graduate employability rate standing at 84.4% according to the Ministry of Higher Education (https://www.mohe.gov.my/), the urgency to equip students with job-ready skills has never been greater. These MOUs are designed to provide students with structured exposure to the auditing, taxation, consultancy, and fast-moving consumer goods sectors. From internships and mentorships to practical insights and networking platforms, the collaboration aims to ensure graduates not only meet but exceed industry expectations.

Speaking at the event, the Principal of SEGi College Sarawak emphasised the significance of creating value beyond academic transcripts — a space where students can gain confidence, critical thinking, and professional relevance. Partner companies echoed this sentiment, pledging their support to mentor young talent while cultivating a pipeline of future-ready professionals who understand the needs of dynamic, evolving industries.

Industry-academia partnerships like these are instrumental in advancing Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, by offering inclusive and equitable access to lifelong learning. They also contribute to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by supporting student transitions into meaningful employment and improving talent pipelines across sectors. The engagement also supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, highlighting the power of collaboration in driving sustainable change in education and workforce development.

The signing ceremony culminated in a networking session that brought together students, faculty members, and industry representatives in meaningful dialogue, reinforcing a shared commitment to nurturing Sarawak’s next generation of accountants, auditors, and business leaders. As these collaborations continue to grow, SEGi remains steadfast in transforming education into opportunity — not just for students, but for the communities and industries they will one day lead.

This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):

SDG 4 – Quality Education

SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth

SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
