Students from the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences at SEGi College Sarawak have demonstrated their dedication to the community by raising donations for a local special needs school. Four Diploma of Psychology students gathered early at 6 a.m. to put up a table for the charity fair. Their goal was to help a local special needs school raise funding for their children.
The students raised a large amount of money by selling bak changs, puddings, ice creams, and key chains towards the conclusion of the day. The sale was a huge success, with the bak changs selling out within the first hour.
The special needs school expressed gratitude for the pupils’ charity and offered to visit the school and meet the students they had assisted. The event greatly impacted the students, and SEGi College Sarawak hopes to hold such activities in the future to continue contributing to the advancement of society.
According to a World Health Organisation study, around 15% of the world’s population has some impairment. The number of people with disabilities in Malaysia is estimated to be roughly 4.2% of the total population. This emphasises the significance of assisting special needs schools and improving facilities for disabled children.
The initiative by SEGi College Sarawak to generate funds for the local special needs school is a noteworthy step towards developing a more inclusive society. The kids’ devotion and hard work have had a good impact on the community, and their contribution will go a long way towards improving the lives of disabled students.
SEGi College Sarawak is dedicated to instilling social responsibility and community service in its students. The college encourages its students to participate in such events and hopes to continue contributing to society’s progress in the future.
