SEGi College Sarawak’s students from the Diploma in Hotel Management and the Diploma in Culinary Arts visited the Hilton Hotel Kuching for a lesson in Banqueting and Catering on Thursday 27 September 2022.
Accompanied by their lecturer Mr Gregory Poh, the students were first given a briefing on the background of Hilton Hotel Kuching by Mr Awangku Karlo, the hotel’s Learning and Development Coordinator, after which they had a lesson on catering by Mr Borhan Salleh, the Sales Manager, and a lesson on the setup of a banquet room by Mr Krismas Miski, the Banquet Manager.
The students learned about the complete Banqueting and Catering process from the initial meeting with the client until the issuance of the Banquet Event Order (BEO), which is a contract that lists all the important details of an event. They then learned two different banquet setups, the Western Set event and the Dome Set event, and were also taught how to serve at these banquet functions.
At the end of the study visit, the students were treated to delicious refreshments prepared by Hilton Hotel Kuching.
