Extracurricular activities also play important roles in offering opportunities for students to learn the values of teamwork, individual and group responsibility, physical strength, competition, diversity, and a sense of culture and community.
With this concept, a group of students from SEGi College Sarawak’s Allied Health Club organised the SEGi Badminton Championship on the12 November 2022 morning at Stapok badminton court Kuching.
There were three categories for this competition, which are “Men & Women Single”, “Men & Women Double”, and “Mixed Double”. There were 30 participants from SEGi College Sarawak and other educational institutions. This competition was sponsored by Greenleaf Food and Beverages (beverages for the participants), Gaya Sports Kuching and Protech Sports(t-shirts and medals for the participants and event committees).
All participants were involved in the match consisting of the best of 3 games of 21 points. The side winning a rally adds a point to its score. At 20 all, the side which gains a 2-point lead first wins that game. At 29 all, the side scoring the 30th point wins that game.
This exciting competition ended at 1.00 pm, identifying the winners of each category. The top 3 winners received a medal, cash vouchers, and a pack of beverages, and the other participants received a pack of beverages as a consolation prize. Tiffany Wee and Ari Wong, the main organisers of this competition, presented all the prizes to the participants.
