SEGi College Sarawak is once again bridging the gap between industry and academia through an exciting collaboration with PC Image and Sony. This initiative brings participants into the dynamic world of videography, providing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The event kicked off with insightful sessions led by industry experts Shawn Chai and Theophilus, who covered the fundamental principles of videography, offering participants a solid foundation to build upon.
Following the theoretical sessions, participants engaged in hands-on practical activities, handling professional videography equipment under expert guidance. This approach allowed them to apply newly acquired concepts, providing invaluable real-world experience. Students from the Diploma in Mass Communication and the Diploma in Creative Multimedia programs were actively involved, enhancing their skills in line with their curriculum, which includes videography, photography, and photojournalism as part of the creative module.
The workshop’s practical segment culminated in an editing session, where participants transformed raw footage into polished final products. This comprehensive approach ensured attendees learned not only how to capture high-quality video but also how to edit and produce professional-grade content. The workshop attracted a diverse group, including professionals, freelancers, lecturers, and videography enthusiasts, creating a rich knowledge-sharing environment.
“We are honoured that both PC Image and Sony have partnered with SEGi College to bring industry knowledge directly to our students,” said Nabillah Rafidah, Programme Leader for the Faculty of Communication, Design and Information Technology at SEGi College Sarawak. “This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to providing practical, hands-on learning opportunities that align with industry needs. We look forward to hosting more beneficial activities in the future.”
Participants left the workshop not only equipped with essential videography skills but also inspired with a deeper passion for the craft. By connecting students and professionals with industry experts, SEGi continues to foster a learning environment that is both innovative and practical. This dedication to meaningful industry collaborations ensures that students are well-prepared to excel in their future careers.
SEGi’s commitment to enhancing the educational experience through industry partnerships is further underscored by aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
