One Shared Meal. Dozens of Ideas. Infinite Possibilities.

SEGi’s Leo Club and Rotaract Club joined forces to host a vibrant Inter-Club Anniversary Celebration, Sharing, and Fellowship evening on 18 April 2025. Held at The Kitchen Steamboat BBQ, the gathering brought together 16 participants, including advisors Lion Vincent Cheong, Jessa Tan Le Le, and Tay Lee Chee, with the aim of building stronger ties between two of SEGi’s most active student-led service clubs.

The evening kicked off with a motivating address by Lion Vincent Cheong, who inspired both existing and newly joined members to continue embracing leadership and service in all that they do. The event provided a meaningful platform for dialogue, reflection, and planning, strengthening not only friendships but also the shared mission of both clubs to give back to society through impactful community initiatives.

One of the key highlights of the event was the induction of five new students from various programmes into the SEGi College Sarawak’s Leo Club. As the evening unfolded over a shared meal, members exchanged stories, discussed ongoing and past projects, and brainstormed collaborative ideas for future outreach. The informal setting allowed for open and honest engagement, breaking barriers between clubs and reinforcing a shared purpose rooted in community spirit.

With global challenges requiring unified local action, the importance of inter-organisational collaboration among youth-led initiatives has never been greater. According to the United Nations, effective partnerships are essential in achieving all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 17 which promotes multi-stakeholder cooperation for sustainable progress.

Clubs like Leo and Rotaract not only cultivate leadership, but also foster cross-cultural understanding, volunteerism, and lifelong networks. Studies show that young people who are involved in service-learning and club-based activities demonstrate stronger civic responsibility, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills. These attributes are essential as today’s students become tomorrow’s changemakers.

The celebration marked more than just an anniversary—it signalled a renewed commitment to unity, leadership, and purpose-driven service. It was a night of reflection, celebration, and vision, setting the stage for more impactful youth-led collaborations in the future.

This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
