This powerful campaign is more than just an event—it is a commitment to the community’s long-term well-being. With over 3.9 million adults in Malaysia currently living with diabetes, according to the Ministry of Health’s National Health and Morbidity Survey 2019, the urgency to educate and empower Malaysians about prevention and lifestyle changes is more critical than ever. SEGi is stepping up to the challenge by integrating health awareness into its student experiences and academic ethos.
By participating in this campaign, SEGi is actively promoting a culture of social responsibility and health literacy. Through educational booths, health screenings, and collaborative outreach with local healthcare bodies, students gain first-hand exposure to public health advocacy while making a real difference in their communities. This isn’t just about coursework—this is about creating ethical, well-rounded graduates who are socially engaged and globally conscious.
The campaign also supports the national goal of reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which currently account for 74% of all deaths in Malaysia (World Health Organization, 2022). Through student-led participation, SEGi plays a crucial role in bridging knowledge with action, turning awareness into impact. This is not a one-off participation—it is a sustained, year-long engagement that reflects SEGi’s holistic approach to education.
Community engagement projects such as this not only reinforce SEGi’s dedication to academic excellence but also to societal well-being. It is a realisation of education that goes beyond textbooks—where knowledge meets compassion, and action drives change.
This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
