Healthcare Students Lead in Recycling Creations

SEGi demonstrates its commitment to academic excellence and environmental stewardship. Recently, students enrolled in the Diploma in Healthcare programme, as part of their Introduction to Environmental Health subject, were tasked with a unique assignment – creating new items using recycled materials.  

This innovative coursework serves as a practical application of the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle (3Rs) within the context of environmental health, reinforcing SEGi’s dedication to sustainability and hands-on learning. 

The objective of this activity goes beyond traditional classroom instruction; it aims to inspire students to think creatively about waste reduction and resource conservation. By utilising recycled materials such as magazines, newspapers, cardboard, and plastic bottles, students are challenged to craft innovative items like baskets made from rolled-up magazine pages, cardboard turtles, and plastic bottle crafts. Not only does this assignment showcase the students’ ingenuity and craftsmanship, but it also underscores SEGi’s commitment to fostering a culture of sustainability and responsible consumption. 

Furthermore, this initiative aligns with global efforts towards sustainable development by encouraging responsible consumption patterns and reducing the environmental footprint of material production and disposal.
