SEGi marked a significant milestone on 20 March 2025 with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TASKA ANGEL, led by Faculty of Education and Social Sciences Programme Leader, Laura Albert Chuan. More than just a formal partnership, the collaboration is rooted in a shared commitment to early childhood education—one that values nurturing, play-based learning and the development of future educators who teach with heart.
The event was made even more memorable by the inspiring presence of TASKA ANGEL’s founder and principal, Katerina, who shared her personal journey of starting the centre from a place of passion, not profit. Her story resonated deeply with attendees as she recounted the vision behind creating a safe, natural, and joyful space for toddlers aged one to three. “Children learn best when they are free to move, to touch, to experience the world with all their senses,” she said, advocating for the importance of nature-based learning.
Katerina’s philosophy aligns closely with global research that confirms the impact of early childhood development on lifelong outcomes. According to UNICEF, over 90% of brain development happens before the age of five, underscoring the critical role educators play during these formative years. By embracing child-led learning and supporting teacher training through academic partnerships, this MoU strengthens both access and quality in early education.
For SEGi College Sarawak, the collaboration also reflects a deeper social purpose—to shape educators who will go on to uplift their communities by investing in young minds. According to UNESCO, expanding early childhood care and education is one of the most cost-effective investments a country can make to boost educational equity and economic growth.
Katerina’s message to the next generation of educators was simple yet powerful: “When we teach with passion and purpose, we don’t just shape young minds—we shape the future.” Her words echo the spirit of this partnership, one built on purpose, heart, and the promise of a better tomorrow.
This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
