CNY 2026 Foods Donation Project Strengthens Community Bonds

On 8 February 2026, the Leo Club of SEGi College Sarawak, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Kuching Kota Sentosa, successfully organised the CNY 2026 Foods Donation and Giving Project at the Kenyalang Park Community Association (KPCA). Held from 8.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m., the programme was conducted in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration, reflecting a shared commitment to community care and social responsibility.

The initiative aimed to provide essential food supplies and festive assistance to underprivileged families, ensuring they could celebrate the festive season with dignity and joy. More than 150 households and beneficiaries from various community groups received food provisions and festive items. The project forms part of the Lions Club’s longstanding annual tradition, now in its 15th consecutive year, demonstrating sustained dedication towards community welfare.

The event was officiated by YB Chong Chieng Jen, who delivered a welcoming address and joined in the distribution of food supplies and angpow packets to senior citizens and beneficiaries. A Lion Dance performance added to the festive atmosphere, symbolising prosperity, unity and shared celebration.

Approximately 25 Leos and Lions members participated actively in the programme. Members of the Leo Club were involved in pre-event packing, logistics coordination, registration management, crowd control and the distribution of food items. Their enthusiastic involvement highlighted strong youth leadership and a genuine spirit of service, reinforcing the continuity of Lions’ community outreach efforts.

Through effective collaboration between Lions, Leos, community leaders, NGOs and sponsors, the programme was executed smoothly and systematically. Beyond addressing immediate food needs, the initiative strengthened community bonds, encouraged intergenerational service learning and fostered a culture of compassion and solidarity within society.
