A Guided Journey into Emotional Resilience

Students from the Diploma in Healthcare (DIHC) programme gained meaningful exposure to real-world counselling practice through a dedicated sharing session conducted by Miss Dayang Nurhannyfah Binti Abg Mohamad Adwi from Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN). The session formed part of the college’s ongoing effort to connect academic learning with industry-guided insight, ensuring students develop both professional knowledge and personal resilience.

During the talk, representatives from YKN introduced students to essential concepts of emotional well-being, including practical ways to manage stress, build resilience and seek support during personal or academic challenges. The session highlighted how counselling can guide individuals through difficult moments and strengthen self-awareness, an important foundation for both personal growth and future professional conduct.

A key part of the sharing focused on Pusat Sokongan Sosial Setempat (PSSS), an initiative under Yayasan Kebajikan Negara. Officers explained the role of Pusat Sokongan Sosial Setempat as a one-stop centre that provides social support services to individuals and communities in need. By understanding how these services function, students were encouraged to recognise the importance of mental health care and the value of seeking help when necessary.

The interactive format allowed students to engage directly with the speakers, ask questions and explore how counselling services contribute to the wider social welfare network in Malaysia. For many students, the session broadened their understanding of how emotional support and social care intersect with their future roles in the healthcare field.

Faculty members expressed their appreciation to Yayasan Kebajikan Negara for providing students with exposure that enriches academic study and strengthens emotional readiness. As students prepare to enter the workforce, understanding how to manage their own well-being is essential for sustaining compassion, professionalism and confidence in real-world healthcare environments.
