10 Years of Service. One Historic Win.

The Thanksgiving Award Ceremony for FY2024-25 held on Saturday, 4 July 2025, at Shangri-La, City One marked a proud milestone for SEGi, as the SEGi Leo Club was conferred the prestigious Diamond Award – the club’s first-ever 1st Class honour since its charter in 2014. The award, presented by District Governor Annie Ho, recognises over a decade of unwavering commitment to community empowerment, social impact, and sustainable change.

The Diamond Award is more than a symbol of excellence; it celebrates the club’s transformative outreach aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). From poverty alleviation to climate action, the SEGi Leo Club has led and participated in numerous student-driven initiatives that address real-world challenges. This recognition affirms that youth-led civic action, when nurtured through meaningful platforms, can create a ripple effect across communities.

Over the past year, the club’s projects touched on 12 of the 17 SDGs, showcasing exceptional breadth and depth in impact. Initiatives ranged from food aid programmes addressing hunger and malnutrition (SDG 2), to urban sustainability campaigns and biodiversity protection efforts (SDGs 11, 14 and 15). These student-led movements mirror global priorities; according to the UN, over 800 million people still live in extreme poverty, while climate-related disasters have doubled in the past 20 years.

Lion Vincent Cheong, who serves as both Faculty Advisor and Leo Advisor, received the Diamond Badge alongside President Leo Phyllis Lim Pei Xuan, Secretary Leo Alycia Sim Syn Yee, and Treasurer Leo Nately Sim Jya Yee. Their individual certificates of achievement were a testament to their hands-on leadership and service-driven mindset. A commemorative photo with District Governor Annie Ho sealed the moment for history.

This achievement represents more than just an award—it embodies SEGi College Sarawak’s continued investment in nurturing purpose-driven leaders. By empowering students with platforms to lead service projects, develop sustainable solutions, and work collaboratively with global networks like Lions Clubs International, the institution contributes directly to community transformation and national progress.

This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
SDG 4: Quality Education

SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
